I do not think Oslo is more violent than other big cities. Unless you stay out until the very small hours, I think you should be perfectly safe. Use your common sense and do not get too drunk yourself. Do not get overdrunk and do not get involved in arguments with drunk young men. A group of 3 adult men has no reason to worry. I'm sure Oslo is no worse than anywhere else, just picking up on something I read.
