We arrived late in Dubai and wanted to check in early. The receptionist smirked at us and said it would cost double the price of our hotel for the 2 nights - even though I had e mailed ahead and asked that early check in could be provided. The answer was a clear "if the rooms available then of course". The room was available because they tried to rip me off for it. Not the best start so we waited in reception for a few hours until they would let us in!
She was a lot more attentive to the gentleman and a prostitute who wanted a room. On the prostitute theme, the bar in the hotel called the music room is a place for ladies of the night to pick up. There was a pimp, about 6 women on different tables and a couple of sleazy "business men". These ladies then take the customers into the majestic for a room. I travel a lot and don't like to knock a hotel for no reason and without providing a decent argument for and against the place. The pros - very nice Greek restaurant.
The Greek salad is amazing. Nice pool area although very windy due to the tall buildings that surround it which also make it quite unsightly One of the pool attendants was very friendly and stood out among the rest of the staff here.
Great view of the Great view of the Dubai skyline. Clean I have to say above all else the rudeness of the staff in this place makes the mind boggle. They address you as though they are the guests. This hotel is about a 15 minute drive from the airport, and it is a good place to stay for a short layover.
During our 36 hour stay, we took taxis everywhere. The Hotel was very accommodating in setting up an immediate tour for us, and they held our suitcases after checkout until it was time to leave for the airport that night. They allowed us to continue using the facilities as well, and it's actually a very nice place to unwind. Unlike other hotels, there is a certain quality to the Majestic that makes you feel as though it's a safe, home base to seek refuge from the heat and commotion.
